Dear George,
The Anna Ioanovna crown was made in 1730. It has 2536 diamonds and more than 20 big colored precious stones. At the top, it has a big tourmaline (ruby?) and a diamond cross. This ruby was purchased by Nikolay Spafariy, who was an ambassador in Peking during the reign of Aleksei Mikhailovich. Most of the crown's stones were taken from the crown of Catherine I, which now has no precious stones on it. Best regards, |
